Overview
Staying compliant with SMS regulations while maintaining smooth communication is essential for businesses today. To make this easier, a new SMS Restriction History feature has been introduced, along with key enhancements and important bug fixes. These updates provide better visibility into SMS sending limits, improve user experience across number purchases and calls, speed up recordings and transcriptions, and strengthen compliance through expanded keyword blocking. Additionally, critical issues such as SMS limit ramp-up, Puerto Rico’s classification, and sub-account transfer billing have been addressed.
The SMS Restriction History dashboard provides businesses with a transparent way to track and manage their SMS sending activities. By logging warnings and restrictions, it helps users stay compliant with carrier guidelines and avoid disruptions in communication.

SMS Restriction History
Managing SMS compliance is critical for smooth communication with customers. The new Restriction History feature makes it easier to track any adverse actions on SMS sending.
Users can now monitor:
Daily/Weekly Sending Limit Violations – keeping track of usage caps.
Warning Emails & Temporary Restrictions – including cases triggered by error code 30007 or high opt-out rates.
Where can i check Restriction history?
This history log can be accessed by navigating to:
Location > Settings > Phone Numbers > Advanced Settings > Restriction History
With this, businesses gain visibility into why restrictions occur and can take timely corrective action.
Restriction Log Table
The main panel displays a table of restriction records, making it easy to track SMS sending vulnerabilities. Each row contains the following details:
Date – Timestamp of when the restriction or warning occurred.
Restriction Type – Whether it was a Warning or a Temporary Restriction.
Restriction Reason – The cause, such as Opt-out Rate exceeding safe thresholds.
Percentage/Count – The specific opt-out rate recorded at the time of the restriction.
Additional Details – Other related metrics, such as the Error Rate.
Filtering Options
On the right-hand side of the table, there are Start Date and End Date filters, allowing users to view restriction history for a specific time period.
The pagination control at the bottom ensures that users can navigate through multiple pages of restriction records.
What are error and opt-out rates are good to have a threshold?
- A High Opt-Out Rate indicates that contacts receiving your messages have objected, generated complaints, or marked your SMS as spam. A good opt-out rate is typically in the range of 0—1%. Once the opt-out rate hits 3%, the sub-account will be locked for sending text messages for 24 hours.
- A High Delivery Error Rate indicates that you are sending SMS to contacts that are no longer in service, are unreachable, or use a non-SMS-capable device such as a landline. This may also mean that external carrier filters are refusing to deliver your SMS due to bad sending behavior in the past. A good error rate is typically in the range of 0—6%. Once the error rate hits 10%, the sub-account will be locked for sending text messages for 24 hours.
