Magic Links In Memberships(Courses)

Have you ever been in a situation where you're trying to get somebody in membership, or you want to get them in quickly, and they've lost their password, or they can't figure out how to log in? A Memberships magic link is the one-click solution for that. The fastest way to get your customers and users into your membership courses is if they forget their username or password.


Please note:

Newly created locations must use client portal magic links. You can create magic links in the Client Portal. Go to "Sites" > "Client Portal" > "Dashboard" to generate magic links for your clients.More details on client portal magic link




The magic link is designed to side-step having to use a username and password to log in. Once logged in, clients will see whatever "products" you/they have been granted access to. It is meant to give clients access only to the products they have been granted access to.


Please Note:

If you’re using the magic link while logged in as your agency admin account, you’ll see all the available courses for that sub account.

How to create Magic Links?

There are two kinds of magic link that is offered :

  1. User's Magic Link: Useful for location users. Comes in handy in cases where the agency wants to share a course with a number of locations and locations users will take the course. This magic link Can only be used as a custom menu link in a sidebar.
  2. Learner's Magic Link: useful when shared with a contact. Comes in handy inside emails etc.


To create User's Magic Links for legacy courses follow the steps,If you want to create user magic links for client portal click here


  1. Head to Memberships > Courses > Settings





2. From there, go to Site Details




3. If you do not have a Magic link there already, Click on Regenerate Magic Link:





4. Once your magic link is populated in the field above, click Copy to copy it to your clipboard.




5. The magic link can be used to as a custom menu link to be enbedded in the left menu



To create Learner's Magic Links for legacy courses follow the steps below ,If you want to create learner magic links for client portal click here




Only learner Magic Links can be send using workflows and emails.We recommend sending learner magic link in the following cases:

  • Giving Course access to a new user
  • Giving offer access to a existing user
  • New user signup for the course

The use cases are not limited to the above use-cases but can be expanded based on a specific needs



Sending Learner Magic Link with Workflow triggers


Step 1 : Go to workflows and setup a courses trigger 



Learners Magic Link can be used with all courses triggers.


Note that learner magic link can only be used with Courses triggers(Category Started,Category Completed,Lesson Started,Lesson Completed,New Sign Up,Offer Access Granted,Offer Access Removed,Product Access Granted,Product Access Removed,Product Started,Product Completed)



Step 2 : Add an action like email or SMS which allows you to select Login Url(Magic Link)





When the email goes out it will automatically populate the learner Magic Link for the contact




Please Note:

Magic links should only be shared with prior consent. Anyone with the link will be able to access your course material

Magic Links can be send using email campaign by using the login Url(Magic Link) Custom value


Troubleshooting

Magic Link can expire If you generate a new one. Older ones will be invalid.


It doesn't work for contacts who don't have a membership offer granted to them.



When testing, when I click on a magic link, it shows all the courses the contact should not have access to.

This is an Agency Admin privilege; when you click on a Magic Link being an Agency admin, it auto logs you in as someone with access to all courses. If you want to do some testing, try opening a magic link in incognito.
