Super Agents, Conversation AI & Ask AI: What's the Difference?

Modified on: Thu, 6 Aug, 2026 at 12:26 AM

Overview

HighLevel's AI portfolio consists of three distinct products—Super Agents, Conversation AI, and Ask AI. Although they all leverage AI, they are built for different audiences, different workflows, and different levels of autonomy.

This guide provides a clear comparison of each product, explains when to use each one, and establishes consistent positioning for internal teams and customers alike.

1.  The short version

Highlevel offers three different AI products that actually do very different jobs. The simplest way to keep them straight is to ask who each one is for and who initiates it.

  • Ask AI is your in-app copilot. It helps you - the user logged into Highlevel - write branded content, build funnels and communities, summarize a contact, generate images, and run quick CRM actions by typing or speaking. It only acts when you ask.

  • Conversation AI is your customer-facing chatbot. Its job is narrow and deep: talk to your leads and contacts across SMS, email, web chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram to answer questions, qualify them, and book appointments - either drafting replies for you (Suggestive) or handling it end-to-end (Auto-Pilot).

  • Super Agents are custom AI teammates you create in natural language inside Agent Studio. They automate your daily tasks and workflows - kicked off by CRM events at the location level - and can do just about anything inside Highlevel and outside it through connectors. This is the open-ended, do-anything layer of the portfolio.

Put plainly: use Conversation AI when you want an agent to respond to and converse with the end customer. Treat a Super Agent as a member of your team - one that automates your daily tasks and workflows in natural language, based on triggers, at a location level, and can act both within Highlevel and outside it with your own custom prompt.

2.  What each product is

1.  Super Agents: The Autonomous Teammate

Super Agents is an AI-first way to build autonomous teammates inside Agent Studio. Unlike traditional chatbots, you describe the agent’s role and allowed actions in plain language, and the guided builder assembles a complete, testable agent. It is the strategic successor to node-based builders, focusing on open-ended automation triggered by CRM events.

Core Capabilities & Differentiators:

  • Fires on real CRM events. Triggers include Contact Created, Opportunity Created, and Opportunity Status Changed (filterable by pipeline, stage, and status), alongside Tag Changed, Form Submitted, Appointment, Chat, and Schedule - so the agent acts with no human present.

  • Takes real action, inside and outside Highlevel. Update fields and tags, trigger workflows, create tasks/notes/appointments - and reach external apps through connectors (Monday.com, Cal.com, Higgsfield and a growing MCP catalog).

  • Grounds answers, with receipts. Pulls from Knowledge Bases (documents, tables/CSVs, crawled web) and, when it uses live web search, shows inline source citations you can click to verify.

  • Guided, editing-first builder. Ask for a change and it edits only that; it asks a clarifying question when a choice is ambiguous; and every trigger, tool, and knowledge base is grounded in your real account data, streamed into a live, editable config panel.

  • Multimedia support. It can read/edit/create images/videos/audios - powerful Social Media Agents.

2.  Conversation AI

Conversation AI is an AI-powered communication agent that automates conversations with your contacts across supported channels. It responds to inbound messages, collects lead details, answers questions, and helps book appointments - based on how you configure the bot.

Key characteristics:

  • Multi-channel: SMS, Email, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Chat Widget / SMS Chat, and Live Chat, with per-channel control over where it’s active.

  • Three setup methods: Guided Form (beginner-friendly), Prompt-Based (more control, model selection, actions), and a visual Flow-Based Builder (branching, multi-step logic).

  • Two run modes: Suggestive (drafts replies for a human to review and send) and Auto-Pilot (responds automatically, working the conversation toward a booking).

  • Purpose-built jobs: lead capture, general Q&A, and appointment booking - with actions like human handover, workflow triggers, auto follow-up, multi-calendar booking, and conversation summaries.

3.  Ask AI

Ask AI is a built-in AI copilot that helps you - the Highlevel operator - create content, get answers, generate assets, and complete supported actions without leaving the platform. It’s reachable from the top navigation bar and the left sidebar (full-screen workspace), at both Agency and Sub-account levels, and accepts text or voice prompts.

Core capabilities:

  • Branded content generation using your account’s Brand Voice - emails, social posts, ads, blogs.

  • Guided creation of communities, funnels (Funnel Creation Agent), and Voice AI agents.

  • Image generation and editing for campaigns and pages.

  • In-app CRM actions from chat (Skills-powered): create contacts, summarise leads, update opportunities, list/reschedule appointments, apply tags, and support bulk updates etc
