HighLevel now lets you expand how customers can contact your business — by adding Text Message (SMS) and WhatsApp contact options directly to your Google Business Profile through the GBP Optimization tool in the Reputation tab.
? Where to Find It
You can access the new fields inside your GBP Optimization flow:
Reputation → GBP Optimization → Scroll below the Phone Number field
You’ll see two new fields: Text Message and WhatsApp
? Why Use Text Message & WhatsApp on GBP?
Modern customers expect more than just phone calls. By adding SMS or WhatsApp to your Google listing, you enable:
✅ Instant messaging-based customer contact
✅ More engagement from mobile-first users
✅ Improved profile completeness (helpful for local SEO)
✅ Better trust and responsiveness perception
✍️ How to Add Messaging Options
Go to Reputation → GBP Optimization
Scroll to the section just under the Phone Number
Enter either or both:
Your Text Message (SMS) contact number
Your WhatsApp number (must be linked to a WhatsApp Business Account)
Click Save
⚠️ Note: If you enter both WhatsApp and Text Message, Text Message will take precedence and be shown as the primary contact method on your Google Business Profile.
?️ How It Works Behind the Scenes
The data is submitted to Google’s Business Profile API, which then reflects this on your public GBP listing.
These fields are part of Google’s official attribute set for certain business categories.
If your category doesn’t support WhatsApp or SMS, the fields may not display on the live listing — but your data will still be saved and synced when eligible.
? Availability
This feature is currently available for all accounts using the GBP Optimization tool via Labs.
Admins can toggle the feature on/off per location from the Labs Settings section.
? Troubleshooting Tips
Make sure your WhatsApp number is connected to an active WhatsApp Business Account.
Double-check that your GBP category supports these attributes — Google restricts them for some categories.
If changes don't reflect immediately, allow 24–48 hours for Google to process updates.
